Mavins Recordsboss, Don Jazzyhas disclosed that Mavin Records had it rough in the early days.
Speaking during the group’s recent trip to Ghana where he led his team to the 5th edition of ‘Tigo Ghana Meets Naija Concert’ said: ‘The first year was really bad. In the first year, we released about a hundred songs, 92 exactly but people didn’t want to hear them.’
Speaking further about the label, which is now home to recording artists like Tiwa Savage, Dr SID, D’ Prince, Di’Ja, Reekado Banks and Korede Bello, the respected producer and label exec said: ‘We put out a lot of work but maybe some people didn’t hear it or maybe it was bad or maybe we were not emotionally at the right place and then the music wasn’t right. But then at some point, I think God heard our prayers.’
The label was founded by Don Jazzy in 2012, following the disbandment of Mo’ Hits Records, a record label co-owned by the producer and former partner, D’banj.
